What is Netsnapper?
Netsnapper is a solution for data traffic optimization and convergence. It is a client/server architecture and proxy server solution with its own complete management platform. Netsnapper is carrier-grade, fully scalable, and designed for ease of deployment and manageability.
Our client software is compatible with all common operating systems. There is no other product in the market that offers the same comprehensive set of features in one modular bundle.
How does Netsnapper work?
Netsnapper consists of 5 modules that solve the challenges of data traffic.

1 & 2 – Traffic optimization:
A proprietary compression engine is at the heart of this module. It performs end-to-end lossless streaming compression in real-time, both upstream and downstream. Proprietary congestion control algorithms perform intelligent content recognition and maximize the exploitation of the available physical bandwidth. Across an operator’s standard data mix, Netsnapper achieves a compression rate of close to 30%. Netsnapper also offers a clientless proxy server solution which – wherever desired by the network operator – offers adaptive downstream traffic optimization such as html caching, image recoding and intelligent video optimization (such as resizing to smaller screen resolution of smartphones and video frame rate reduction).
Benefits: With Netsnapper, network capacity is virtually increased, the available bandwidth fully delivered, and the network unburdened. Thanks to a much better bandwidth exploitation the expansion of the physical network infrastructure can be postponed. The network operator will save on outgoing roaming costs.
Additionally, the operator will dramatically speed up networks by virtually doubling data throughput with Netsnapper. This also much improves the end user experience.
3 – Seamless switching / Session persistence:
Netsnapper directs all data traffic seamlessly over the best available network, as defined by the operator. End users will have the best available connection no matter where they are.
With Netsnapper, the network operators are able to homogenize the network landscape, and to substitute expensive or slow bandwidth with cheap and fast bandwidth; for example, overloaded 3G networks will be substituted with cheap wireless hotspots.
Session persistence means that a network interrupt will merely suspend data traffic – downloads and uploads will continue precisely where they had been left off – online application sessions never go down.
The benefits are obvious: Subscribers will love the service quality. With Netsnapper, there will be no more frustration because of lost data transfers, or application sessio re-starts. Network operators are able to eliminate redundant data traffic to further unburden and speed up their network.
4 – Security:
The “Security” module is an advanced mobile VPN with innovative security features: In addition to the full choice of standard encryption levels, Netsnapper provides protection of the data transfer tunnel between clients and server itself, with constantly changing authentication keys: the “virtual fingerprint”. And, Netsnapper offers a fully integrated end-to-end firewall solution.
5 – Management platform:
The “Mobility Access Manager” module is Netsnapper’s integrated management platform: it facilitates subscriber base and network management. The operator will be able to load-balance and homogenize the network, and to define highly specific user groups to assign data intensive devices to appropriate networks. Netsnapper’s management platform easily interconnects with all billing and accounting systems over standard APIs.
